About ISTQB:


                        The ISTQB was officially founded as an International Software Testing Qualifications Board in Edinburgh in November 2002.  The international recognition of the certification  is due to the participation of many countries as opposed to any country-specific scheme.
The main aims, tasks, and responsibilities of the ISTQB are:
  • To define and maintain all aspects of the ISTQB Certified Tester scheme such as core syllabi, examination structure, regulations, and certification guidelines.
  • To ensure that each successful participant receive the "ISTQB Certified Tester" certificate (or the local variant with the added "ISTQB compliant" logo).
  • To promote testing as a profession, increase the number of qualified testers, and develop a common body of understanding and knowledge about testing, through the syllabus & terminology.
  •  To approve, monitor compliance, or expel national boards.
 Some advantages offered by the ISTQB Certified Tester scheme are:
  • Testers don't need to know English in order to gain a recognized qualification with less cultural bias. It also allows them to move across country borders.
  • Economic benefits accrue to testing-related suppliers such as training providers, consultants, etc. in all participating countries.
  • European/multinational/international projects can have a common understanding of testing issues.

Currently there are two levels of examinations:

For Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) Holders in Computer Science or related fields
  • Foundation Level Clearance
  • 24 Months of Testing Experience in IT, Testing, Development,
    QA, Engineering or related fields (For any 2 sub-levels)
  • Min. 36 Months of experience mandatory for Adv. Complete
    Certification(For all 3 sub-levels)
For Non Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) Holders in Computer Science or related fields
  • Foundation Level Clearance
  • 60 Months of Testing Experience in IT, Testing, Development,QA,Engineering,or
    related fields

As per Government of India notification Service Tax will be applicable on ISTQB Certification(Foundation & Advance Level) from 01st July 2012. So an small amount of restructuring has been done in the fee structure, here is the fee chart which will be applicable from 01st July 2012...

Re-schedule Fees(Absent Candidates)      1002+123(service tax)                = 1125

Duplicate Certificate Fees                                 311+39(service tax)                   =   350

Candidates who have already paid for the exams scheduled after 01st July 2012 will have to send balance amount DD. The DD's should reach our Bangalore or Noida office before the scheduled exam dates. Please mention your Enrollment ID', Name & contact number at the back theDD's.
NSEiT Centres are for ISTQB Foundation Level Online Examinations.

How to Apply

*********INDIAN BOARD ISTQB CERTIFICATION STEP BY STEP GUIDE*********

  • Check the examination schedule for your city.
  • Fill the Online Enrollment Form .
  • Kindly Select Public if you are appearing at our Public exam dates. If you are appearing at your company premises then select Corporate.
  • If you have any queries fill Online Enquiry Form.
  • You would immediately receive a confirmation mail in your Personal ID along with further instructions.
  • As per instructions Send a D/D of amount specified in mail in favour of SOFTWARE TESTING CERTIFICATION BOARD, payable at 'NEW DELHI' to our Noida or Bangalore Office, you can find the address here . Provide your Reg. details and basic contact information at the back side of the DD.
  • Last date of payment & registration for online exams is 15 days before the exam date & last date for Al exams is 10 days before the exam date.
  • You will be informed of the timing and procedure of the examination. Appear for the examination on the designated date, time and venue.
  • Please do not forget to bring a photo identity (Passport, Driving License, Election Card etc.) with you when you appear for the examination.
  • You will be informed of your result within two weeks and passing candidates will receive the certificate within eight weeks.
  • Foundation level exams are online. Results for online exam will be immediate.

 The Advance Level is aimed at experienced test professionals. This level shows that the person has detailed knowledge regarding testing and skills to apply this knowledge in practice. The requirements for this level are available through the detailed syllabus.

The prerequisites for applying for the exam are as follows:

For Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) Holders in Computer Science or related fields
  • Foundation Level Clearance
  • 24 Months of Testing Experience in IT, Testing,
Development, QA, Engineering or related fields (For any 2 sub-levels)
  • Min. 36 Months of experience mandatory for Adv. Complete Certification(For all 3 sub-levels)
For Non Bachelor ’s Degree (or higher) Holders in Computer Science or related fields
  • Foundation Level Clearance
  • 60 Months of Testing Experience in IT, Testing,

The exam has three sublevels:


Technical Test Analyst
Test Analyst
Test Manager

 There is an separate paper for each sub-level and each Paper is of 180 Minutes Duration. Sub-Levels can be taken up in any order. You can apply for only 1 sub-level at a time. An individual Certificate is granted on successful completion of each sub-level.
